A statewide child-predator investigation last month snared Dennis Rice, 58, of Merrill, an equipment operator for the city of Wausau, and Todd Jelinski, 44, of Schofield, a part-time case manager in community mental health services at North Central Health Care in Wausau. Both have been placed on leave pending the outcome of investigations.

JASON RASMUSSEN: WAUSAUDAILYHERALD.COM REPORTS WISCONSIN POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH SOLICITING A PROSTITUTE AND ENCOURAGING PROBATION VIOLATIONS

A Kronenwetter police officer was arrested this week on charges of soliciting a prostitute and encouraging probation violations, according to authorities.

Jason M. Rasmussen, 41, was arrested at about 6 p.m. Thursday as part of the Wausau Police Department’s ongoing investigation that uses online personal advertisements. The department announced the arrest Friday evening but did not report that Rasmussen was an officer and provided no further information.

Kronenwetter Police Chief Dan Joling confirmed that Rasmussen is an officer for the village and “has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation into the matter.” The Kronenwetter Police Department website says Rasmussen had been hired as the village’s first part-time patrolman in July 2006. He was promoted to become the department’s fifth full-time officer in July 2007.

State law prohibits a correctional facility employee or peace officer from intentionally engaging in sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a person in custody.

Snell is also facing felony charges regarding a separate investigation by narcotics officers, according to Palo Pinto County officials.

The Fairbury Police Department arrested 39-year-old Karrie Jo York of Fairbury was arrested on Friday for alleged driving under the influence, Child Abuse, DUI with underage passengers, willful reckless driving, resisting arrest and speeding 11-15 over speed limit.

According to the Fairbury Public School's webpage, York is a Registered Nurse with the Fairbury School District.

JEAN MAXIME: FLORIDA DAD ARRESTED FOR LEAVING 7 AND 5 YEAR OLD SONS HOME ALONE FOR 2 DAYS WITHOUT ANY FOOD, REPORT SAYS

Jean Maxime, 48, was arrested by police in Fort Lauderdale, FL and charged with two counts of child neglect without great harm. He is accused of leaving his two young sons, ages seven and five, home alone without food for two days without supervision. The hungry boys eventually left the home to find their mother because Maxime left them without any food. They managed to flag down a passing motorist and asked him for a ride to their mother’s house. The helpful motorist tried calling the number the boys gave him to contact Maxime, but no one answered. He then attempted to drive the boys to their mother’s home, but they could not direct him to the location. He eventually dropped them off at a police station where the boys told officers that they are scared of their father. Maxime eventually went to the police station looking for his sons, and he reportedly admitted to leaving them at home alone without any supervision.
